Nakamura Tokichi - Seiko no Mukashi 30g
Nakamura Tōkichi – Jingai no Mukashi Matcha
30g Ceremonial-Grade Japanese Matcha Powder
Seikō no Mukashi (成光の昔), meaning “Radiance of Accomplished Tradition”, is a premium ceremonial-grade matcha from Nakamura Tōkichi, one of Uji’s most historic tea houses founded in 1854. With its refined depth, elegant sweetness, and luminous balance, this blend embodies mastery in the art of matcha—crafted for formal tea ceremonies and moments of quiet sophistication.
Taste & Character
Seikō no Mukashi offers a bold yet harmonious umami that softens into rounded sweetness. Layers of earthy greens and a faint cocoa richness give it depth, while a smooth, lingering finish brings balance and elegance. Its poised intensity makes it especially rewarding as koicha (thick tea), though it may also be enjoyed as a fuller-bodied usucha.
Aroma
Elegant and steady, the aroma evokes shaded tea leaves with subtle nutty undertones. Once whisked, it blooms into a dignified fragrance—rich, warm, and composed, carrying quiet brilliance.
Texture & Finish
Stone-milled to ceremonial fineness, Seikō no Mukashi produces a dense, velvety crema. On the palate, it is smooth, weighty, and refined, leaving a long, harmonious finish with a sense of radiance and calm strength.
Best Enjoyed For
- Traditional tea ceremonies, especially koicha (thick tea)
- Experienced tea drinkers who appreciate refinement and depth
- Reflective rituals with a touch of dignity
- Pairing with wagashi that complement its elegant umami
